Evaluation of College magazine cover and contents page

Evaluation of my college magazine cover and contents page.

Using the answers from the questionnaire I constructed, I found out that most students said they wouldn’t buy the current college magazine because they think it is boring and doesn’t interest them as students. This tells me that the college magazine as it is, does not appeal to its target audience. So I analysed other college magazines on the internet to try and get an idea about the target audience I was dealing with.

One of the questions on my questionnaire was, ‘What would you like to see in a college magazine?’ the popular answers I received from this question were what I put as subjects on the front cover and on the contents page, I did this because this is what the target audience want to see so therefore my magazine will be more appealing to them and they will want to buy it. As for the image I used on the front cover, I used some college students which are in the same age category of my target audience, so this therefore is also appealing to them. The students I used on the cover are smiling and looking directly at the camera, the photo itself is a mid-shot and the student on the left is holding a book or college work. The setting of the photo has the students leaning against lockers which once again indicate that this magazine is targeted at students.

The text I used on the front cover is straight forward but looks professional, this indicates that the magazine has a certain amount of class and isn’t just another basic boring looking college magazine. The text on the contents page is more informal and has a college baseball font. I done this on the subject headings because this is the things the students are interested in and have wanted to see in the magazine, so this will attract them more. As for the picture I just used a picture of a college which also reaches the target audience.
